An initial agreement between UkrAVTO and the Chinese side has been reached and is expected to be signed in the coming days. Permits are still needed from General Motors, which could potentially veto the plans amid fears that the Lacrosse can be positioned as a competitor to the Chevrolet brand. Representatives from GM, has not been prepared for comment.
According to sources in UkrAVTO, this car will be equipped with 2.4 liter engine and priced at U.S. $ 40,000 ( or equivalent to Rp 356 million ). Automotive experts in Ukraine believe that this Buick will face difficulties in Ukraine because of the demand for U.S. production car in this country low.
Production has been reduced UkrAVTO including programs involving U.S. products from the Cadillac, Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep in Ukraine. According to Ukrainian A95 auto magazines, the brand has been imported into Ukraine since early 2009.
