Volvo Recall Thousands Cars-Issues Related to GPS

Washington: Volvo will soon pull back ( recall ) as many as 416 units of car models from 2000 to 2010 which is equipped with a portable GPS navigation units, the Garmin Nuvi 760 and 765. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration USA ( NHTSA ), Monday ( 22/11 ), this step is taken because these portable GPS battery if it is too hot can cause a fire.

Volvo models of potentially affected include models 2007-2010 Volvo C30, 2006-2010 Volvo C70, 2004-2010 Volvo S40, 2001-2009 Volvo S60, 2000-2010 Volvo S80, 2005-2010 Volvo V50, 2001-2010 Volvo V70, 2001-2010 Volvo XC70 and 2003-2010 Volvo XC90.

Volvo has also issued a statement through the NHTSA, and urged the owners of these models to stop the use of portable GPS navigation devices, Garmin, immediately and visit the official website of Garmin to determine whether their units are affected. "
